history: while kate was never a stellar achiever in school, she really didn't have to be. her family was comfortable, and she got by on a combination of her looks (she'll be the first to admit it) and her athletic ability, an ability that landed her a full scholarship to college...as a cheerleader. while at ucf, though, she did find her other niche: event planning. she ended up majoring in event management and going to work full time for a company down in orlando - until she ended up pregnant, the father of her soon-to-be-born son a one-night stand she hadn't planned for. (fun fact of the day: condoms break, kids.) kate moved back home to seattle, closer to her parents, and got a new job. after luca was born, though, kate was hit with severe ppd and ppa, to the point where she was unable to leave the house most days. she resigned from her job and moved back in with her parents to try and get herself back on her feet. she got a new job. she met a guy. well, not so much met as re-connected. they started dating, they moved in together, kate got pregnant again, and luca was joined by a baby sister. kate and stephanie's dad split about a year ago, but they're still on cordial terms and he even helps with luca sometimes, even if it's probably weird for him.

personality: kate has a lot of opinions on things; unfortunately, because her brainpower isn't exactly on par with what she thinks about, a lot of the times she says really stupid things that don't actually earn her any brownie points with people. she also has a tendency to mother hen - it was always a trait of hers, but it's gotten a lot more pronounced since she's had kids. she also worries that with how her life has been, she's not setting a great example for her children and tends to not let herself have a good time, because she's too worried about how others see her. it's a problem. she's been working on it.
